Refuge Widowers was founded in 2020 by Daniel Brooker…a widower with a simple goal: to guide widowers through gospel-centered community.

What began as a small step into uncharted territory has grown into the only nationwide ministry designed exclusively for widowers…now reaching across the country and around the world.

Over time, one thing has become increasingly clear. When a man realizes he is not alone, something begins to shift. He starts to think differently about his grief, his responsibility as a father and leader, and what it looks like to move forward.

We believe their children and generations to come will be blessed by these men as they respond to their pain with purpose.

As the community has grown, so has the need. More widowers are connecting with Refuge, and with that growth has come more requests for in-person connection…spaces where men can be encouraged by those who understand and guided by those who have already walked the road they are currently on.

This conference is a response to that growing need for encouragement and guidance.

For the first time ever, Refuge Widowers is expanding it’s gatherings to now offer a conference created specifically for widowers. It is the first conference of its kind, formed to guide widowers who are rebuilding their lives, one season at a time.

This gathering will include men who have been part of Refuge retreats and online community for years, as well as men who are coming for the very first time. Some will already know faces in the room, and others will be stepping into this space for the first time. All are welcome.

Every gathering and resource offered by Refuge is FREE because we believe cost should never get in the way of hope. This is made possible through the generosity of those who believe every widower should have access to gospel-centered community.
